Are you uncomfortable with the thought of self-promotion? Perhaps you actually feel “bad” and think that if your product or service is worth it, other people will do the selling for you. Right? I know… because I feel like that sometimes…
But, as a small business owner, we gotta be the one to make sure people know you exist and what your business are up to. With the vast exposure of social media, placing yourself out there, doesn’t seem like too a daunting task. But the main question will always be ourselves… tell yourself it’s actually OK to self-promote…
Here’s 4 tips to getting comfortable with online self-promotion by SmallBizTrends:
1. Accept that some people will not like it: Some of your buyers are going to become upset about it.. but that’s OK and you have to accept it before you get started. Keep in mind that you are growing your business.
2. Be confident in what you’re selling: You should be excited to share it. If you’re not 100 percent in love with what you’re executing, then you are not ready to promote it.
3. Promote for the appropriate individuals: People only mind self-promotion when it really is not relevant to them. Be confident you only self-promote to those who will be interested.
4. Don’t market everything you do: People get annoyed in case you try to market every thing you release or publish. Make sure you are only advertising content material that deserves to be promoted and that you space out your heavy promotional attempts.
After all, we are all in business. And businesses need advertising! Just look around you! As long as it’s high quality and targeted, self-promotion should not be a dirty word. It is just advertising.
